A chest full of smart educational tools!
From March 1, 2014, CSS is coordinating the European project LEA’s BOX. The project focusses on developing innovative learning analytics tools by combining elements of CbKST and Formal Concept Analyses with Open Learner Models.
Successful Final CULTURA Review
On 26th February 2014 the third review of the CULTURA project took place in Brussels. The project has been rated as excellent in this final review. The reviewer team was impressed by the quality of work accomplished in the project; all deliverables were accepted.
The review meeting completed this 3-year project in the area of digital libraries and cultural heritage. The review success was the final achievement resulting from the fruitful collaboration and enthusiastic contributions of a strong interdisciplinary consortium.

ImREAL completed successfully
On 27th November 2013, the EU FP7 ImREAL project has completed successfully its Final Review at the University of Leeds. The official review meeting was preceded by a showcase event o 26th November, where – in addition to the reviewer team – leading industry experts and key researchers in TEL gathered to experience the excellent project’s outputs in terms of next-generation learning services and simulators.
At the final review, the project was assessed as excellent, all Period 3 deliverables were accepted, the scientific excellence, as well as the team confidence and enthusiasm were highly regarded. The Reviewers commented that “…the project has made excellent progress, has exceeded expectations in some cases, it has advanced beyond the state of the art in several domains and has high visibility.”

A new FP7 project called S-HELP (Securing Health.Emergency.Learning.Planning) has been accepted for funding by the European Commission. S-HELP is located in the Security Action Line and targets the management of cross-border
disasters by developing and using Decision Support Tools. More information

We are very pleased to announce that an FWF-proposal of our research group has been accepted. The project will deal with basic-research on formal theories of memory psychology and their application for the design of recommendation algorithms. This 2-years project will start at the end of September 2013 and will provide the opportunity of strengthening the cooporation with the associated partners at Tallinn Institute of Informatics (http://htk.tlu.ee), University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (http://www.beckman.illinois.edu/directory/wfu) and the Knowledge Media Research Center in Tübingen (http://www.iwm-kmrc.de/www/de/index.html).

We are delighted to report that the CULTURA project has successfully passed its second year review on 5th April 2013 in Dublin. The scientific experts designated by the European Commission evaluated CULTURA as a very well-run project that has made excellent progress. The project has achieved its objectives and milestones within the review period. Congratulations to the whole project team!

The ROLE project has passed the final review and has been completed after four years of intensive work and research on Personal Learning Environments (PLEs). Now we are looking forward to making usability and sustainability of the project’s resultsa success story.
