Under the title “More wimen-power for Graz University of Technology”, a press conference at Graz University of Technology was held, where four newly appointed professor at the TU Graz were proudly presented.
In this context, Rector Kainz presented the measures to create the best possible framework for a career in engineering for the ambitious women at Graz University of Technology. These measures include the opening of the Nanoversity on the campus of Graz University of Technology. On the other hand, special emphasis is placed upon the creation of positive role models. Graz University of Technology managed to attract four top-researchers to Graz in the last year. Their activities are already successful. For example, a proportion of female researches 34% (for 32 employees) could be achieved at the Institute of Knowledge Technologies. Moreover, two excellent young researchers were provided a perspective at Graz University of Technology.
Univ-Prof. Dr. Stefanie Lindstaedt, who has been Head of the Insititute for Knowledge Management and Knowledge Technologies since December 2011, gave her statement at the press conference: “Computer Science makes it possible and is here for people. To inspire women to technical fields, the promotion has to begin at school. Learning to program playfully in its fundamentals may be one approach. “
